Workday review by Inspector Jones

In a word, Workday is quality. I’m really excited by this company - they’ve got a great future ahead of them, and they’re are clearly one of the leaders in Human Capital Management. I recommend them to enterprise customers.

Workday is a full HR suite - they cover HR administration, talent management, recruitment, payroll (at least in North America), and time tracking.

Before you choose Workday, here are the key things you need to know

First, their product and quality of service. Workday isn’t just a long feature list, it’s great to use. We found lots of satisfied customers, good quality 24x7 support. People truly love Workday.

Second, Workday suffered major outages in May 2011 and October 2009. In these outages I was impressed at how Workday responded decisively and addressed root cause of the issues. As with any service, please make sure you protect yourself, and check that your contract with Workday covers getting a partial refund if there is downtime or poor performance.

Third, industry best-practice security. Workday meet my favourite standard - ISO27001, the international standard for Information Security. This is excellent, and a great plus for Workday.

Finally, flexibility. I’m really pleased that data isn’t locked up in Workday. If you ever want to leave you can download a complete copy of all of your information, for free… But you will need to pay out the rest of your contract, which could be up to a year. I reckon that’s pretty fair.
